On Europe Day, 9 May 2026, LUMINATE took part in a public outreach event at UMC Utrecht, where several EU-funded projects were presented to the general public to showcase how European collaboration drives innovation in healthcare and bioprinting technologies.

Vahid Arbabi briefly introduced the LUMINATE Project to the audience. Within LUMINATE, we aim to advance bioprinting-based regenerative strategies for osteochondral repair, while also using in silico and computational modelling approaches to better understand, predict and optimise construct development.

Together with colleagues from Regenerative Medicine Utrecht, representing Utrecht University and UMC Utrecht, the team highlighted LUMINATE alongside other projects such as NEOLIVER, m2M, KeratOPrinter, STRONG-UR and LS-CarE. From advanced disease models to next-generation bioprinting applications, these projects demonstrate how international collaboration within Europe accelerates scientific progress and creates real societal impact.

A great day of outreach, discussion and celebration of European science and innovation.
